Our meal at Sarma (restaurant in Somerville) this Tuesday was beyond amazing. We like eating out a lot and have enjoyed a lot of restaurants in the Boston area. For "fine dining"/"foodie" level restaurants though, there's a fairly high bar. When a higher end restaurant is only "good", it's sort of disappointing. "Great" is sort of expected. "Amazing" is exceeding those high expectations.
But, there is an extremely short list that transcend even beyond "amazing" and I have to add Sarma to that list. Maybe I just like Turkish food, but the diversity of flavors and delicious combinations were really as good as dining gets, for me. Everything we had was amazing or better, but if you go soon (before they change the menu) the Cherry Caponata was particularly inspired. Highly recommended.
(The other two "beyond amazing" meals on my short list were at Oleana, Samra's sister restaurant and a meal at Bravo Bravo in Mystic, CT. Bondir was close, but I think it goes on the "Amazing" list :) )
